2 Day River Fly Fishing Improvers Course – 4th & 5th June 2017

The Deer Park Country House Hotel, Weston, Honiton, Devon. EX14 3PG.

A fabulous 2 day river fly fishing course on the river Otter with overnight B&B accommodation and 3 course evening meal at the award winning Deer Park Hotel, (drinks not included) riverside picnic lunch on each day, tea and coffee served bankside throughout both days.

The improver’s course is designed for fly fishers who would like to try their hand at river fly fishing for the first time or for those who fish rivers but would like to hone their technique and learn some new skills to help increase their success on rivers.

This will be a small group event to ensure you get the most out of the experience.

The fisheries resident instructor Neil Keep will be guiding you through the 2 days with all manner of tips and techniques from tackle set ups to tactical river fly casting, rivercraft, entomology, standard and modern fly fishing techniques with both dry fly and nymph and even a bit of evening fly tying thrown in.

All equipment will be supplied for the course, all you will need is a pair of waders (these can be arranged for you if you don’t have any), a hat and glasses (Polaroid’s if you have them) and a valid Environment Agency rod license.

Cost for the 2 day event will be just £245.00 per person including all meals and accommodation. (Non-fly fishing partners £75.00 per person.)

Remember there are only limited places on the course so don’t miss out!

A £100.00 deposit will be required when booking to secure your place. Refunds on deposits are available as long as we receive a minimum of 10 days’ notice.

Deer Park Fishery Open Day

Sunday 11th June 2017 10.00am – 4.00pm

To celebrate the successful first year of re-opening, the Deer Park fishery on the river Otter is holding a FREE bankside open day which is open to all, whether you are a fly fisher or someone who is looking to get into the sport.

Join us on the hotels 3 miles of the river Otter to see what the fishery has to offer, walk the bank or bring your kit and have a complimentary fish.

Our fishing school instructor Neil Keep will be on hand to talk all things fly fishing and show you around. Get a free casting tune up with Neil who will be happy to pass on any tips and techniques for fishing the river. There will also be some on the water demonstrations in modern nymph fishing techniques and river fly casting.

Along with all this there will be the latest range of Marryat river rods for you to try out and maybe even some bankside fly tying if the elements permit.

A short walk from the river bank will see you at the splendid Deer Park Hotel which will be open for lunch and refreshments throughout the day and if the weather permits there will be an afternoon barbeque on the bank.

On arrival please park in the hotel car park and walk down to the river where you will find us set up on the river bank, if you are unsure please pop into the hotel reception and they will point you in the right direction.

Deer Park Fishery Ladies Fly Fishing day – 9th July 2017 9.00am to 4.30pm

The Deer Park Country House Hotel, Weston, Honiton, Devon. EX14 3PG.

A special event just for the ladies, whether you are already a fly fisher or fancy coming along to give it a go for the first time.

A fabulous days’ river fly fishing course on the river Otter with bacon butties at the hotel on arrival, riverside picnic lunch and tea and coffee served bankside throughout the day.

The course is designed to give you all the basics to set you on your fly fishing way, from the tackle, setting it up, casting, or improve your technique if you already fly fish.

This will be a small group event to ensure you get the most out of the experience.

The fisheries resident instructor Neil Keep will be guiding you through the day and passing on his 40 year plus experience to you to make sure that you get a sound understanding of this sometimes bewildering pastime. The morning session will be spent on the bank learning about tackle, casting, some basic entomology (study of insects) and then after lunch we will set you free on to the river to put your new found knowledge into action!

All equipment will be supplied for the course, or bring your own if you have it, all you will need is a pair of waders (these can be arranged for you if you don’t have any), a hat and glasses (Polaroid’s if you have them) and a valid Environment Agency rod license.

Cost for the 1 day event including picnic lunch, refreshments and fishing permit will be just £90.00 per person.
