Description

Spectre distance fly lines – with the further developments in our Nano Coating technology , we have significantly improved all our fly lines but above all else we have also been able to pioneer a unique and hugely popular new profile, the Snowbee XS-Plus Spectre Distance fly lines! This profile can produce effortless, longer casting for even the most moderate of casters, so we have extended the range still further from three to four lines in the series, including a brand new 10ft sink-tip model.

The XS-Plus Spectre Distance lines have proved nothing short of sensational, with the design taking into account the casting ability of most anglers. If you can cast at all, this line will help flatter your performance. If you can cast well, the Spectre Distance lines will help make your casting become exceptional. The new Spectre series have a profile that extends beyond the range of our traditional XS fly lines and at 30ft longer are 40 yards in total length, necessary to accommodate their outstanding performance. Each of the Spectre Distance lines has the same head length at 47ft. To achieve the benefit of longer casts however, the profiles have been ‘tweaked’ accordingly, to optimise all casting abilities. The front taper is 7ft in order to still achieve great turnover, especially at longer range and the longer rear taper of 8ft extends the profile over which a good cast can still be achieved, whether the optimum head length has been precisely aerialised, or not.

The rear taper on the Spectre lines start at a much extended 39ft, nearly 1/3rd longer than the standard XS. This provides a ‘load point’ much longer than normal, yet still very manageable. So, where room behind for a decent back-cast, this helps significantly when distance casting, without adding bulk to the fly line to achieve the same. Snowbee lines are renowned for being very slim and by extending the head length within manageable levels, this provides perfect rod flex when fully extended, without increasing wind resistance through bulk. With a longer head already extended, the cast automatically travels further. Snowbee’s slim running line also then comes into play and is why these lines are now 120ft long rather than the standard 90ft.

NEW for 2022
The Spectre series now comprises of four lines with the addition of a new Sink-Tip version for this ever more popular style of fishing. It has a sinking 10ft tip of similar 2-2.5ips density to the long full head intermediate. The Floating line will provide long and accurate casts when fishing dries, and the sink tip can further extend that now to enhance control when fishing buzzers, damsels and washing line for example. The Intermediate, with a level sink rate on the head of 2-2.5ips provides the ability to fish sub-surface, plus allows great control to more depth if required, in all weathers.

The Fast-Sink line has a sink rate of 5ips and provides the ability to reach drop-offs at long range and get down quickly to fish near the bottom, early season with boobies, or even to explore greater depths from the boat. All the lines have a Hi-Vis Chartreuse floating running line that will gradually pull sub-surface, with the weight of the sinking lines, providing the perfect direct link to the flies without slack, for best visibility and enhanced take detection.
